Prof. Chengjia Shang gave a lecture for the second batch of "New Engineering" courses of the Ministry of Education, "Frontiers of Steel Science and Technology"

Prof. Chengjia Shang, chief scientist of Collaborative Innovation Center of Steel Technology, University of Science and Technology Beijing, which is one of the institutions of 2011 Project, was invited to give the 8th lecture of the second batch of "New Engineering" courses of the Ministry of Education, "Frontiers of Steel Science and Technology" on May 31. The courses are jointly organized by the Chinese Society for Metals (CMS) and Shanghai University (SHU). Prof. Shang gave a lecture about ‘Digital representation of microstructure of high performance steels’, where he introduced the development of steel science and technology, fundamental steel research in China , the new hot spot of the twenty-first century, ICME and steel research with AI and gave a number of real examples.

By sharing his experience and achievements in fundamental steel research over the years, Prof. Shang encouraged the professionals to become active and to make some breakthroughs in and promote the development of the steel industry. At the end of the lecture, Prof. Han Dong, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, SHU, expressed his gratitude for Prof. Shang’s lecturing and awarded him with a certificate of honor.
